DITO Telecommunity Official Launch, Reveals Places of Operation & Mall Stores

The country's third telecommunications company player set to compete against Globe and Smart launched its official business today, March 8, 2021 in a virtual press launch, marking the company's commercial entry. 



The launching of DITO Telecommunity happened three years after the government launched its search for a new telco payer in the Philippines. 


According to DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II, the presence of DITO Telecommunity would provide a "big boost" in the local telecommunications industry in the country. 

"The people are expecting unhampered services and quality internet to move past this pandemic," Sec. Honasan stated. 

Meanwhile, Davao-based businessman and DITO Telecommunity Chairman dennis Uy and their partner China Telecommunications-vowed to provide an average speed of 27 megabits per second, covering 30 percent of the country's population for its first year of operations. 

For the initial launch of DITO Telecommunity mobile services they released the identified Selected Areas in Visayas and Mindanao for DITO Commercial Roll-Out.

In an interview with the media, Atty. Adel Tamano, Dito Telecom's Adminisrative Officer was quoted as saying "We want our first commercial endeavor ‘no to be isang CSR project, at isang CSR project na specifically will benefit yung mga tao natin sa Mindanao po at Cebu," Tamano said during a virtual briefing on Tuesday.

[Translation: We want our first commercial endeavor to be a CSR (corporate social responsibility) project, one that will specifically benefit our people in Mindanao and Cebu.]

Atty. Tamano also clarified that the decisioon to launch within Visayas and Mindanao first is part of their strategy. He also noted taht DITO will not be pre-selling any SIM cards to interested subscribers.

The telecommunications network owned by Davao businessman Dennis Uy earlier announced it will first roll out activities in the Visayas and Mindanao, then nationwide by June 2021.
