Delivery Service Rider Graduated Magna Cum Laude Earns Praises from Netizens
A delivery service rider who graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication, at one of the country's most prestigious educational institution, Adamson University earned the praises of netizens and his story went viral on social media.
The rider was identified as Francis Jun "Ax" Valerio, a 21-year-old college graduate who first earned some praises from netizens when photos of him attending an online class while under the heat of the sun went viral in 2020.
In a Facebook post, Ax Valerio shared that he used to sell sticky rice cakes and graham rolls at schools during his High School days.
"Gumawa [rin] ako ng mga assignments at activities ng mga kaklase ko kapalit ng konting halaga para lang may pang baon ako sa eskwela," Valerio wrote.
Aside from his rackets during High School, he also worked as a service crew, call center agent, delivery rider, virtual assistant and other service oriented jobs during his free time.
Whe he was enrolled in college in a private university, Valerio moonlighted as a delivery rider to help him fund his studies.
Ax Valerio was quoted as saying "Hindi naging madali ang lahat. Mag-deliver umaraw man o umulan, mapuyat sa gabi para pumasok sa isa pang trabaho, sabay na [rin] dun yung paggawa ng mga school works," Valerio revealed.
According to the delivery rider he couldn't believe with what he achieved at first being recognized by the university with latin honor is such an achievement for him.
"Kaya nung nalaman kong ga-graduate ako ng may latin honor eh hindi ko talaga mapigilang umiyak dahil alam kong naging sulit ang lahat. Sulit ang pagbibilad sa ilalim ng tirik na araw, sulit lahat ng luha kasabay ng pagbyahe sa gitna ng malakas na ulan, sulit lahat ng puyat maipasa lang ang mga kailangan ipasa sa eskwela."
